Four young boys, happy and careless. They are inseparable, they are innocent and wise beyond their years. Build by their own dreams and strengthen by their faith. They always do things together. They always do pranks that make their friendship even more tighter, of course they never get caught.
And they know that they never will.
But one summer afternoon, the free life that they have, has been compromise with a harmless scheme that went wrong. The four boys was sent to a juvenile called Wilkinson Home for boys. The innocent mind was replaced by punishment, abuse and humiliations. Long they spent their life inside the prison.. then.
Years later, one becomes a lawyer. One a reporter. And two have grown up to be murderers, professional hit men. And the pain and humiliations that the past marked to their heart and soul always remains and was never erase.
Very Brilliant. Genius and Compelling. One of the books that made my night sleepless. Every page is a new revelation. The characters that Lorenzo created is humongous. The idea of the story was way beyond amazing and smart. This is a perfect book for me and for every mystery seeker. This is what you call feeding the mind with absurd, morbid yet hopeful and provocative living.
Applause to the Author.
Title: Thirteen Reason Why
Author: Jay Asher
“You can’t STOP the future..You can’t REWIND the past… The only way to learn the secret is to press… PLAY”
One morning after school, Clay Jensen found a mysterious box lying on the porch. No name on it, no return address.. nothing, only the box. Inside of it was 13 cassette tapes. Now the only way to know where the box came from and what’s inside of it, and who sent it… is to listen to the tapes. But he is not aware that his name will pop up on one of those tapes. The Thirteen Reason Why of Hanna Baker.
Hanna Baker ended her life, and nobody knows the reason. Rumors are just circling around the village like a leaf carried by the wind. People moved on, but Hanna never stop to press PLAY. She arrange a tapes-13 tapes to be particular- Where a list of names will appear on it. And the first person to receive the tape will pass it on to the next person. Until the Last tape is use. This is The Thirteen Reasons Why Hanna Baker decided to end her life.
Brilliant story, I love how the story goes through the dual narratives of Hanna Baker and Clay Jensen. It was just so mysterious that reader will be curious about it. Very compelling, i never stopped reading it until the end. Although some parts of Hanna’s Reason was a bit dense to my perspective, but as you look beyond everything, you’ll gonna feel and comprehend that all of it makes sense. Hanna’s character is very subtle. you cannot say if she is fragile, weak or vulnerable. you cannot say if she is strong and tough, whatsoever. All i can see when you try to imagine Hanna baker, she is so unpredictable. She doesn’t want to draw that line herself for people to understand her. What she wants is for people to enter her frigid and lonely life. All she needs is someone to understand her, without her being so pushy. She want a person who is willing, to listen to her, no matter how bad, boring or vindictive her life is.
Jay Asher, put my mind into struggle in predicting and catching the inner core of Hanna Baker. And it helps, actually. It is so nice to read a book as brilliant and as subtle as this.It makes me feel different after reading this. And i must say that’s a good thing. So.. applause to the author. Very brilliant.
